I’d have to agree, however what changed it for me, made me think this was an actually possibility for me was my first experience of being tattooed.

While my parents were away on holiday one time, of course, my friend and I made our way to unique tattoos, an awesome tattoo shop found in Subiaco, Perth W.A. With what I wanted in hand and recent pay in the other we entered into the busy Hawaiin themed shop and was immediately greeted with the smell of Dettol and the buzzing of several tattoo machines as several people got tattooed. Instantly I was buzzing with excitement and nerves and couldn’t stop smiling. It didnt take long before I was introducted to my tattoo artist Paul. He was a friendly 20 something with tattooed sleeves and an accent that clearly showed he was from New Zealand. and yeah he was hot if you were wondering haha, but thats not important so back to the story. He saw my design, said it was no worries and then took it to make a stencil. Minutes later he as placing it on me and when he and I were both happy he was preping his machine. Now my tattoo took 45 minutes even though it was quite small, so to fill the time I chatted. I figured ‘how long have you been tattooing’ was the most obvious question to ask and I must say the answer surprised me.  He said he had only been tattooing for 1 1/2 years and he’d only really learnt to draw a year before that. Now I was thinking, oh-ow, the apprentice is giving me my tattoo, its gona look crap   nooo!  so rather nervously I asked ‘Howd you get into it’ to keep talking.  He said back in New Zealand he had actually gotten a degree in accounting, polar opposite I know! but his first year of working in an office he realised he couldn’t do this for the rest of his life and quit. For a fresh start he moved to Perth in Aus, and started just working and drawing before gathering up a portfolio. One day he came down to Unique tattoo’s and showed them his work and the boss said to come down for trial run and all the rest was history really. I have to say I truely admire people who have the guts to follow their passions and do what makes them happy. You dont see this a lot these days as everyone seems to just be chasing a dollar. So my next question was ‘what did your rents think?’ he signed and said his Dad took it pretty badly but perked up saying you have to do what makes you happy and live your life for you.

It was in that moment that I realised he was right and if he could do it then I could aswell, and I havnt really looked back since.

At around this time my tattoo was finished and when I went to look at it in the mirror it was perfect. It was exactly what I wanted, like what I had designed had just been stuck onto my body. Obviously my doubts about his ability disappeared.

So thankyou Paul, for your inspiration and beautiful tattoo :)

Maybe not what anyone else had in mind for their next tattoo but extraordinary none the less.

Vanishing Tattoo

Basically an encyclopedia of any and every celebrity that ever had or has a tattoo. It’s good if you wana see a better image of a tatt someone got that you may have heard about or seen a glimpse of in a mag or on tv. I have been there many a time  pacifically for those reasons and havent yet been disappointed

tis quite cool so give it a look-see, even just for Pete Wentz… haha

Bookworms with Ink  is a blog / forum for all those literary folk out there that enjoy reading so much they have tattoos relating to them. Here people are free to share photos, receive feed back, share information or ideas and ask for advice on planned tattoos etc etc with people just like themselves.

The thing I enjoy most about this site is when someone makes a posting about a tattoo that they have, they usual explain the reason or the story behind it which I find particularly interesting, because lets face it, tattoos are a life lasting choice and most people don’t take that too lightly. Most of the time, people get them to mark important moments of their life and its fascinating to see how an image or quote can represent that for them. 

There is a lot of inspiration on here and is partly responsible for my first tattoo, so if you’re looking for ideas just browse though the infinite postings uploaded cause your bound to find something that inspires a tattoo of your own.

 This isnt the only site of its kind however, there are heaps of forums tattoo related, one of them for example  Music Ink, which talk about lyrical tattoos. I’ve just found there is more traffic on bookworms.

So anyway, a definite check out guys.
